Harris A. Fricker, MA
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND PRESIDENT, GMP Capital Inc. and
CO- CHAIRMAN, GMP Securities Europe LLP
Harris A. Fricker assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of GMP Capital Inc. in October 2010. He joined GMP’s Investment Banking Department in 2002 and assumed the role of President of GMP Securities L.P. in July 2008 and was appointed President of GMP Capital Inc. in May 2009. He currently also serves as Co-Chairman of GMP Securities Europe LLP. Prior to joining GMP in 2002, Mr. Fricker held senior roles at several leading Canadian financial institutions, including, heading up the Institutional Sales & Trading desk of another leading investment dealer and running the corporate debenture/derivatives group at a major Canadian bank. A former entrepreneur himself, his depth of experience arising from over a decade in the North American capital markets combined with his acumen as an entrepreneur provides him with a unique perspective on the financial services landscape. Mr. Fricker holds a BA from Saint Francis Xavier University and a MA from Oxford University, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar.
Shawn Aspden
VICE CHAIRMAN AND HEAD OF NORTH AMERICAN INSTITUTIONAL EQUITY SALES
Mr. Aspden joined GMP in July 2006, coming from an Executive Director position at another independent firm. Mr. Aspden previously held roles in equity research and consulting. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a University of Western Ontario Ivey HBA graduate.
Doug Bell
VICE CHAIRMAN AND CO-HEAD OF INVESTMENT BANKING
Mr. Bell joined the Mining team at GMP in 2010 where he heads up corporate finance activities in Toronto and Montreal. Mr. Bell has nearly two decades of investment banking experience and was most recently an Executive Director, Investment Banking in the Mining group at a leading independent investment dealer.
Chris Bond
VICE CHAIRMAN AND HEAD OF INSTITUTIONAL TRADING
Mr. Bond has been with GMP since inception in 1995. His previous GMP roles include market maker for over-the-counter stocks and foreign exchange trader.
Simon Catt
VICE CHAIRMAN AND PARTNER, GMP SECURITIES EUROPE LLP
Mr. Catt helped establish GMP Europe in 2006 as a Partner. Mr. Catt has spent much of his career in mining equity sales, including a decade in equity sales in London for Australian and Canadian investment dealers. He moved to London in 1998 from Sydney where he worked with Australian resources specialist broker Hartley Poynton. In 1998, Royal Bank of Canada added an Australian leg to its global mining group by buying a minority stake in Hartley Poynton. Simon became a Director of RBC and was the senior producer on the RBC London equity desk before leaving in March 2004. In June 2004, Simon helped establish the London office of a competitor.
Kevin Overstrom
VICE CHAIRMAN AND GLOBAL HEAD OF EQUITY AND DEBT CAPITAL MARKETS
Mr. Overstrom joined GMP near the firm’s inception. His investment dealer experience spans institutional sales and equity research while he previously worked as an analyst at a large Canadian insurance company.
John Rudd
VICE CHAIRMAN AND CO-PRESIDENT, GMP SECURITIES, LLC
Mr. Rudd joined GMP Securities, LLC's predecessor, Miller Tabak Roberts Securities, LLC ("MTR") in 1998 as a specialist in Canadian credits. Prior to joining GMP Securities, LLC, he held various trading positions in the New York office of a large Canadian bank-owned investment dealer, including four years as Head of US dollar debt trading. Following the acquisition of MTR by GMP Capital Inc. in 2011, he was appointed co-president.
KEVIN M. SULLIVAN, BA, LLB, CFA
DEPUTY CHAIRMAN
Kevin M. Sullivan, BA, LLB, CFA has been at GMP since October 1995 and co-founded GMP Securities L.P. Mr. Sullivan served as President from 1996-1999 and Chief Executive Officer of GMP from June 1999 to September 2010. Kevin has 25 years of experience and relationships in the capital markets industry. During his tenure as CEO at GMP, Kevin oversaw the creation and growth of Richardson GMP, GMP Europe and GMP Investment Management. In addition, he successfully oversaw GMP’s IPO in 2003 and has since helped the company grow from a market value of $300M to over $1B in that time. During his career, he has also spent three years in the European capital markets as well as a lawyer in general practice in Calgary, Alberta.
DAN TSUBOUCHI, MBA
VICE CHAIRMAN, CO-HEAD OF INVESTMENT BANKING
Dan Tsubouchi joined GMP in 1998 as an oil and gas analyst; was promoted to head of equity research in 2004; and became Co-Head of Investment Banking in 2008, where he oversees corporate finance activities in Calgary and works closely with GMP’s clients in the oil and gas sector. He has a unique background, combining senior management experience in the industry, management of an oil and gas investment banking group, and an extensive network of energy and power contacts. Dan joined GMP from another leading investment dealer where he was vice president and director, managing its Calgary based oil and gas investment banking operations. Previously, he spent 15 years in the oil and gas industry with direct senior management responsibility for managing the production, drilling, engineering, development, gas marketing, finance, acquisitions and planning functions for a $500 million oil and gas company. In his role as head of equity research he was ranked in the top five oil and gas research analysts in industry surveys, including Brendan Woods buyside survey.
