Other Committees

One of the hallmarks of our success is a dynamic and effective risk management framework.  GMP Capital Inc. has risk management processes in place to monitor, evaluate and manage the principal risks the firm assumes in conducting its activities. We seek to monitor and control our risk exposure through a variety of separate but complementary financial, credit, operational and compliance processes. Segregation of duties and management oversight are fundamental elements of our risk management process.

Oversight and monitoring of risk is accomplished through a comprehensive committee structure which seeks to identify, measure, control and report on the significant risks facing GMP Capital Inc.

Executive Committee - through both direct and delegated authority, the Executive Committee has oversight of sales and trading, research and corporate finance activity in addition to responsibility for enterprise-wide tactical decision-making regarding general business issues and related reputational concerns. The committee is also responsible for the implementation of the GMP Group's strategic objectives.

Liability Committee - reviews and approves bought deal underwriting and distribution activities involving commitments of our regulatory capital.  Such capital commitments include offerings of debt, equity and equity-related securities. The committee oversight is designed to ensure that legal, reputational, regulatory and business standards are maintained in conjunction with these activities.

Operating Risk Committee - assesses current risk exposures based on the latest market developments and their potential impact on the GMP Group. The committee is tasked with assessing the transparency and effectiveness of GMP's risk management practices, with a focus on accountable and dynamic processes which can respond to changing markets and GMP's exposures.

Credit Committee - establishes and maintains, through ongoing review, the GMP Group's credit policies and parameters that are implemented by the credit department.

New Product Review Committee - reviews and evaluates any new products proposed to be offered by the GMP Group to its clients with a view to limit GMP's exposure to civil and regulatory liability and potential reputational risk.
